OUR STORY

Wild chaga, hand-harvested from Interior Alaska.

We don't farm chaga — we can't. The most potent chaga grows slowly on wild birch trees in the harshest winters on earth. From our home base in Ester, Alaska, we spend the coldest months of the year on snowshoes, harvesting chaga conks the way Alaskan subsistence families have for generations.

Every piece we ship is inspected by hand, sun-dried to preserve its beta-glucans and polyphenols, and traceable back to the very forest it came from.

THE SCIENCE

What makes wild chaga different.

Chaga isn't a trendy superfood — it's been studied by Russian and Scandinavian scientists for over 60 years. Here's what's actually inside every piece we harvest.

Beta-Glucans

Immune Modulation

Complex polysaccharides that train your immune cells to respond faster and more accurately to threats — without over-stimulating.

Polyphenols

Antioxidant Defense

The second-highest ORAC score of any known food — neutralizes free radicals that contribute to aging and cellular damage.

Betulinic Acid

Liver Support

Drawn up from the host birch tree. Studied for its role in supporting healthy liver function and anti-inflammatory response.

Melanin

Cellular Protection

The pigment that makes chaga jet-black. It shields your DNA from oxidative stress — the same way it protects the mushroom in -40°F winters.

ANSWERS

Frequently asked questions.

Everything you wanted to know about wild chaga — and a few things you didn't.

What is chaga?

Chaga (Inonotus obliquus) is a parasitic fungus that grows on birch trees in extremely cold climates — primarily Alaska, Canada, Siberia, and Northern Europe. It looks like a jet-black charcoal growth on the side of a living tree. Inside, it's golden-brown and packed with beta-glucans, polyphenols, and betulinic acid.

Where does your chaga come from?

Every piece of chaga we sell is hand-harvested from wild birch trees in Interior Alaska, around our home base of Ester, AK. We harvest during the coldest months of the year when the chaga is most potent. We never buy, resell, or import chaga from other regions.

How do I prepare chaga tea from chunks?

Simmer 1–2 chunks in 4 cups of water for 20–30 minutes. Don't boil it — a slow simmer extracts the water-soluble compounds without destroying them. You can re-use the same chunks 3–5 times. Store leftover tea in the fridge for up to a week.

What does chaga taste like?

Earthy, slightly sweet, a little like coffee without bitterness. Many customers describe it as "like the forest in a cup." If you want it sweeter, a touch of honey or maple syrup complements it well.

Is chaga safe for daily use?

Chaga has been consumed daily by people in Russia, Finland, and Alaska for centuries. Most people drink 1–3 cups per day. However, chaga is high in oxalates — if you have a history of kidney stones, consult your doctor first. It may also interact with blood thinners and diabetes medications.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes — we ship worldwide from Alaska. U.S. orders typically arrive in 3–5 business days. International shipping takes 7–14 business days depending on your country's customs processing.

What's your return policy?

If you're not happy with your order, reach out within 30 days and we'll make it right — full refund, replacement, or store credit. We stand behind every harvest.
